San Diego Haunted Paranormal Equipment List
Use a log book to record equipment readings, all photographs, and paranormal phenomena witnessed. In cold weather use a pencil instead of a pen.
You should always carry personal identification with you at all times.
It never hurts to take water and a couple of energy bars along on an investigation. Water is especially important during the hot summer months.
Use a measuring tape to record accurate distances relating to room dimensions and paranormal sightings.
Flash light with battery:
A flash light is required equipment even for a daylight investigation. Lights have been known to quit working at a haunted location and you surely don't want to get caught in a dark basement without a flash light handy.
35mm camera with battery:
A 35mm camera is the best choice for taking paranormal photographs to be used as evidence.
Using a camcorder enables you to document your investigation on tape for further study. It is best to use an analog rather than a digital model in low light conditions.
Useful for measuring changes in air temperature inconsistent with the surroundings.
Never leave home without a first-aid kit.
A tool kit helps in changing batteries and with small equipment fixes. The tool kit should include several small screw drivers and an adjustable wrench.
Always have plenty of extra batteries for all of your paranormal equipment.
Nothing will upset you more than running out of film during an investigation. Take three more rolls than you think you will ever use.
Just like film, take an extra few tapes along to be sure you do not run out.
An EMF meter is a useful tool if used correctly. Be sure to stay clear from man made sources of electrical and magnetic forces. This would include your own paranormal equipment.
IR thermometer with battery:
Use an IR thermometer to record instant changes in air temperature.
Full sized tape recorder with battery:
Inorder to record the best EVP possible you need to use a full sized tape recorder with brand new tapes and an external microphone attached.
For better sound quality use an external microphone with at least a five foot cable.
Motion detector with battery:
A motion detector can be used to find movement in an area that should have none.
A digital camera can be useful in a investigation if used in the proper manner and in the correct lighting conditions. The digital camera should be used mainly for documenting the investigation itself. Please do not use the digital camera to attempt to capture paranormal photographs in low light conditions.
