- Before this was a Geriatric Home - ( I lived in the area since 1975 to 1988, as Santee became a small town, in 1980... when El Cajon City Council dropped the ball, in acquiring this particular parcel - due to legal complications ) It was where poor people go to, when they couldn't pay taxes or lost everything they've owned.
- I used to work at the old hospital and was there during "the big move". I can tell you that during the nock shifts I would have call lights coming on with no patients in the bed or room. One time a tv changed channels all by itself in a room with no one in it at the time. Very cool old place sad it's gone,
- That place is spooky even to drive by.
- They are taring down edgemore to make the new Santee Sheriff station. :(
- Early 2010 a friend and I went with a K2 Meter (which registers electromagnetic wavelengths that can indicate ghost/spirit presence) to Edgemoor in Santee. We had both taught at an alternative educational site located next to Edgemoor. The staff at our school had experienced several inexplicable occurances and had attributed these incidences to the general area's history and proximity to Edgemoo, as well as the river across Chubb Lane.
For a couple of hours we wandered all over Edgemoor and the K2's lights flashed especially near the outer, more modern buildings to the west of the earlier structures.
After we left Edgemoor we went to our former school-site at Homestead which is right down the road on the corner of Magnolia and Chubb Lane in Santee. As we walked around outside the school classrooms and former office area the K2 meter's lights flashed outside of a former weightroom and outside of a bungalow classroom on the southwest corner of the school.
My friend and I were not suprised at all, and only wished we had our old classroom keys so we could research with the K2 in our old classrooms--particularly in the currently unused structure that had formerly contained working classrooms. So much had happened there that was difficult to explain via natural causes.
I wonder if former employees at Edgemoor have similar stories to relate about that hospital.

- Hi there! My mother worked at Edgemoor Geriatric Hospital from the early 1960's until she retired in the mid 1970's. The only thing she ever mentioned as far as being strange, is that the patients became a bit weird during the full moon.
